About Semarang State Polytechnic :

Some educational Institutions (polytechnic) were found by considering the lack of intermediate technicians required by the industry and the success of Swiss dan ITB’s Mechanical Polytechnicestablished in 1976. Since 1982 six polytechnics had been operated respectively in USU Medan, UNSRI Palembang, UI Jakarta, ITB Bandung, UNDIP Semarang, and UNIBRAW Malang with the assistance of The World Bank in accordance with the decree letter of The General Directorate of High Education No. 0303/Dj/Kep/1979.
Politeknik Universitas Diponegoro (Polytechnic of Diponegoro University) initially (1982) had three deparments in engineering, which were Civil Engineering Department, Machine Engineering Department, and Electronic Engineering Department. In 1985 Business Deparment was opened because the industry requires skillful human resources in business. In 1989, the Electronic Engineering Department was developed into Electrical Engineering Departmentand Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering Department.
Based on The Decree of Education dan Culture Minister of Indonesia No.313/O/1991 dated 6 June 1991 on Polytechnic Arrangement in State Institutes and Universities, since 1992 there has been a new division of departmentand study programs in the polytechnic as follows:

  1. Civil Engineering Department, with study program:Building Construction and Civil Construction

  2. Mechanical Engineering Department, with study program: Mechanical Enginering and Energy Conversion Engineering.

  3. Electronic Engineering Department, with study programs: Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineerings.

  4. Accounting Department, with study program: Accounting andBanking
  5. Business Admnistration Department, with study programs:Secretatrial and Office Administration

On 6 August 1977 Polytechnic of Diponegoro University was stated to be independent and separated from the Diponegoro University management based on The Decree of Education and Culture Minister of Indonesia No.175/O/1997 with new name POLITEKNIK NEGERI SEMARANG (SEMARANG STATE POLYTECHNIC). Furthermore, on 31 July 2002 a decree of National Education Minister No.134/O/2002 regulating Organization and Work Order of Semarang State Polytechnic was published.
