A WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL

I suppose we all know that we are living in intriguing times for Myanmar, and those of who are present can feel very privileged to witness it. Having worked in the UK, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand, I can say I have never experienced a country more on the move, and the smiling faces, abundantly verdant scenery and – for me – idyllic climate all evoke Wordsworth’s line  ‘Bliss was it that dawn to be alive…’

So I then ask how we, as the collaboration of staff, students and parents, can best equal the unfolding moment?

Well, all first class international schools and colleges are known for their ace results, top grade facilities, vibrant extra-curricular opportunities, highly professional staff and, of course, exemplary student conduct.

Looking at our results, it is clear our students have done well: 96% gained 5 or more passes at IGCSE last year, while 25% scored 5 or more A*- and of course several are now studying abroad because of this.

This intention – to foster global players- will be boosted by our transition to the world renowned Cambridge international syllabus: students can expect learning that is engaging, enjoyable and memorable, using modern methods and learning technology that build confidence and independent thinking through doing.  And they will be walking away with qualifications awarded  by the world’s oldest and most prestigious of universities. We aim to be tops.

Looking at our premises, facilities and resources, if you have seen our new building you will know that we are ownership of a complex that compares with the best: bright, spacious, subject specific rooms, new labs and library and even a roof garden to view the rapidly evolving Yangon.

On the fun side, we know that engaging, challenging and diverse Extra Curriculars are a great way to learn how to use free time well and draw kudos from doing something we like. They can also be another confidence booster and offer a way to bond with new friends outside class. And they can also be about being a leader and a winner: many of our students have gained quality leadership experience overseas,  and we now have an international chess champion!

I could not close without mentioning what delightful, charming and wonderfully good natured, well-behaved students we have here. Our formative years are so vital in shaping the remainder of our lives that we must spend them happily. To appreciate this fully, you only have to walk around our campus during break times to experience the warming, upbeat vibe here – if you have not already done so, come and see.

And as I am writing about open doors, let me add that mine is…always! So, if you are an existing or would-be student or parent, do drop in so that we can talk about how we can match our vision to yours.

We all know that investing in education is the way towards a new lifestyle, both here in the emerging Myanmar and in the world beyond – especially for those of the coming generation. Now is the time to do it. Why not join us!
