Jerudong International School prides itself on the academic achievements of its students. The School’s motto is “Achieving Excellence” and we encourage our students to do their very best in their academic studies.
In the Junior School, Early Years Students (Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception) follow the UK Early Years Foundation Programme. Years 1–6 study the new primary English National Curriculum which has been adapted to reflect the international, South East Asian context in which the School is located.
The Middle Years (Years 7-9) present the opportunity for students to explore the range of subjects based on but not limited by the British National Curriculum in a wide yet rigorous curriculum. Towards the end of the Middle Years, parents can, if they wish, enter their children into academic competitions such as that run by the University of New South Wales International Competition and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) in four subjects – Computer Skills and English. JIS students who have entered these competitions have performed superbly.
The Upper Years (Years 10-13) are a time for preparing students for the British external examinations and assessment, yet exam results are not the sole focus. We want to nurture and develop students with a passion to learn about the world around them.
The final two years (Years 12& 13) present the opportunity to study for the academically demanding pre-University programmes. We offer the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (A-levels) as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB). Both programmes are respected and recognised by the best Universities in the world studied over a two year period and offer students a wide range of subject choices. Students graduating in June 2014 at JIS have gone to some of the very best Universities in the world including Berkeley University, Stanford University, Cambridge University, LSE, Durham University. There is an experienced Higher Education Department who guide and assist students with the university application process throughout their pre-university years.
