Chiang Rai International School has an immediate, temporary opening for a fifth grade classroom teacher. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to renew their contract the following academic year. We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced elementary teacher who is a team player ready to become a part of an exciting and growing international school in the north of Thailand. We follow the California curriculum supplemented with international best practices in order to promote a global perspective and understanding among our students.
The elementary/homeroom teacher is responsible for teaching all core subjects (math, science, language arts, and social studies) to the students.
Teachers at CRIS are expected to serve on one or more committees in order to improve our curriculum and plan the direction of the school.
Qualifications
Native English speaker
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred
Teaching certification or license from a recognized institution, state or country
Experience
At least two years’ homeroom teaching experience at the elementary level
Successful experience teaching second language learners
Experience/training in Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop a plus
Ability/Knowledge
Knowledgeable in standards-based elementary curriculum, especially in language arts
Ability to differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of a wide range of learners, particularly English learners
Knowledge of long-range curriculum planning; experience with Understanding by Design is a plus
Experience with assessment and diagnosis of student learning in reading
Good communication skills
