Senior Laboratory Supervisor for School of Environment, Resources & Development (August 31, 2015)

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or above in Environmental Engineering or related fields such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or Biotechnology
• 5 years’ experience in supervising laboratory in an Academic or a Research Institute: good knowledge and skills in laboratory operations, maintenance and management of laboratory equipment, particularly, sophisticated equipment
• Experience in supervising Laboratory Technicians and students on chemical analysis, as well as conducting Laboratory courses in Environmental Engineering and Management
• Experience in financing and budgeting preparation
• Good command in both spoken and written English

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and operate EEM Laboratory to be in well-functioning and keep it well maintained
• Assist main instructor for conducting lab course work
• Co-ordinate, supervise & support for all EEM laboratory activities
• Arrange for field visit for EEM faculty
• Technical advice for Doctoral and Master thesis students, as well as for the research work for EEM faculty
• Responsible for the procuring the chemicals, purchasing of Laboratory equipment and their maintenance
• Maintain the safety in EEM Laboratory, as well as the operating procedures, and quality assurance for analytical instruments and equipment in EEM laboratory
• Troubleshooting, preventive maintaining the analytical instruments and managing spear parts
• Preparing/training the manual on methods, techniques and laboratory safety
• Keeping the inventory of the equipment and chemicals for EEM laboratory
• Preparing the yearly budget plan for EEM laboratory
• Responsible for the analysis and reports of environmental samples
• Develop and implement for chemical and hazardous waste management
• Perform other duties as assigned
