The Secondary Program operates differently from the Primary program in that our students come from the regular Thai program. Many subjects are taught both in Thai and/or English. Secondary Program students come from a wide educational background. This presents challenges, opportunities, creative options and active teaching styles for educators with the ability to get involved. The ideal candidate for the Secondary Program should be dedicated to improving students of all levels as well as the existing program, be adaptable and also be pro-active with curriculum changes. They should also have experience or possess TEFL training as well as a suitable background for the subjects they will teach. “Mathayom” or secondary classes are capped at 30 students per class, with several grade levels having more than one class. The periods are in 50 minute blocks with breaks throughout the day. All NES teachers will have a “Homeroom” they will “help look after” with their Thai homeroom teacher counterpart. NES teachers are subject teachers, moving from class to class throughout the day teaching heir respective subjects. However, all subjects (Math, Science, Health, etc.) are taught like ESL classes with the focus being on language acquisition. Graduates in Math and Science fields are wanted for the upper secondary, but most importantly the candidates need to be open minded and ready to teach basic English.
-EIP teaching 18-20 periods to our new and super excited EIP students. These students study in the REGULAR program, but receive all their English lessons from NES and in air conditioned classrooms. Great working enviroment, but not as resourced as the E.P, this is a “true” TEFL teaching job. This is for teachers who are self starters, can set a very strong work ethic and have ESL experience.
-G 7-8 Regular Program English Teacher = 20 periods per week working with regular program students in the “normal” Thai programme. This is for teachers who can handle the demands of a “real’ Thai classroom- 55 students in the classroom, teaching True ESL, to B1 level students. If you are an ESL teacher and want to make a difference and work in a true Thai environment, this is the place for you! –This is not an EP job but is covered under the same contract with same remuneration. However, some benefits such as air con classrooms and small class sizes do not apply.
