NIST International School: Fostering Curiosity, Passion and Empowerment
As a family, you have the option to choose from a wide range of international schools in Bangkok, but what sets NIST International School apart is our commitment to education that inspires curiosity, fosters passion, and drives continuous growth.
A Commitment to Inspiring Education
Our teachers are dedicated to the wellbeing and learning of each student and craft personalized experiences to challenge and support their unique needs. Our community is built on the belief that education should bring joy and foster principled, impactful individuals.
A Not-for-Profit, Full International Baccalaureate School
NIST is a not-for-profit, full International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) to students from 3 to 18 years of age.
We are the first and only non-profit IB international school in Bangkok, established with the support of the United Nations. Our school is governed by the parent-elected NIST International School Foundation and is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
A Progressive and Inclusive Curriculum
The IB curriculum is renowned for its progressive, inclusive approach and emphasizes exploration, inquiry, and trans-disciplinary learning.
Unique Learning Opportunities
At NIST, we build on this foundation through unique learning opportunities such as our NIST Experiential Education Programme and Global Citizen Diploma. Service learning is also an integral part of a NIST education, where students engage with communities to solve real-world challenges.
A Rich Extra-Curricular Program
Beyond the classroom, NIST offers a rich extra-curricular program with over 300 activities throughout the school year, allowing students to explore a diverse range of interests from the arts to STEM and sports.
A Strong Athletic Program
As a founding member of the Southeast Asia Student Activity Conference (SEASAC) and Bangkok Metropolitan Athletic Conference (BMAC), NIST provides a strong athletic program, including academies for fencing, football, gymnastics, swimming, and tennis for aspiring athletes.
A Thriving Music Academy
The NIST Music Academy offers lessons in 13 different instruments, delivered by professional musicians, and preparation for ABRSM and Trinity Rock & Pop examinations.
Established with the Support of the United Nations
NIST has a long history with the United Nations, established with their support in 1992. The first families at NIST were UN employees, and the school’s mission reflects the ideals of both the IB and the UN.
A Diverse Community from Around the World
The school has continued to grow, attracting a diverse student body from around the world.
Experience NIST for Yourself
To truly experience NIST, a visit to the school is recommended, but you can also explore our community online. As a student at NIST said, “You meet so many different kinds of people [at NIST]. It is kind of like traveling around the world but staying in the same place.
