In addition to the preschool program, Sataban now provides a Pre-Vocational skills program for children ages 10 and up. The foundation also has branches in Chiengrai and Nakorn Prathom and is partnered to a small program in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

More:
The Sataban Saeng Sawang Foundation is a place where children and adults with mental, physical, emotional, and learning disabilities can grow and become independent.

The foundation consists of programs that are specially geared toward each individual that enters the school. Each student has a development assessment and a preparatory program in which a teacher is sent to the student’s home to prepare him or her for coming to the classroom.

In 1979, Sataban Saeng Sawang began under the auspices of the Holt Sahathai Foundation, a child welfare organization. A number of the children were in need of special education. A group of parents decided to cater toward special education and in 1985 the current foundation was established.

Programs include a preschool course and pre-vocational skills courses for children 10 and up. Students have access to a range of tutoring programs that can also be done at home for those with severe handicaps. Speech and language therapy and physical therapy is also provided.

In conjunction with education of the students parents can partake in training and counseling sessions. A pre-vocation skills program is provided for children 12 to 20 years of age.

The focus of the foundation and those that work and volunteer here is not only to educate and assist children and adults with special needs but to help them develop and overcome obstacles caused by the disabilities.

Students are introduced into social situations to promote effective communication so that they can potentially integrate into a mainstream curriculum. A number of students have successfully been able to work independent jobs proving the positive outcome of learning at the foundation and that all it takes is a little time and patience to succeed.
