Head of School’s Message

The German European School Manila is a German school abroad with a German and an international branch of the school. The school offers a K1-K12 program which includes Kindergarten and Pre-Primary, Primary School, Grades 1-5, Secondary school Grades 6- 10 and a two-year High School program.

The German European School Manila offers the following certifications in the German branch of the school:

Hauptschulabschluss at the end of grade 9

Realschulabschluss at the end of grade 10

Permission for access to the Gymnasiale Oberstufe at the end of grade 10

The German European School Manila offers the following certifications in the International Section:

IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) at the end of grade 10

DSD 1 (German Language Certificate, Level 1) at the end of grade 10

In High School:

GIB (International Baccalaureate with main focus on German language)

IB DP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program)

The German qualifications are recognized by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK), i.e. all certificates and qualifications are equivalent to those of German public schools. The German branch of the school is financially and personally supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The German European School Manila is a school in the network of 140 German schools abroad. All over the world, the ZfA (Central Agency for Schools Abroad) systematically supports the German schools in the implementation of their educational quality management. In the spring 2011, the GESM received the quality seal “Excellent German School abroad” after the successful inspection of ZfA and KMK.

The International Section is an accredited IB World school licensed to teach the Primary Years Program PYP and the High school the IB Diploma Program DP. It is also in the process of being accredited as an International GCSE examinations center.
