ONE International School

Welcome

ou are now on the website of the only COBIS (Council of British International Schools) Member School in the Philippines.  We are also the only British Exam Board Registered and Philippine Accredited, Kindergarten and Elementary School on Negros Oriental.  I am Jenny Hoggard, the Head Teacher of this unique setting and from my years of experience in the U.K., I know that choosing a school can be a daunting experience.  Myself, and my team, understand this anxiety and have designed this website to give you a glimpse of the amazing facilities we offer to our students.  Our details can be found on the ‘Contact’ page and are available should you wish to arrange a personal consultation, tour, or if you have any questions.

Background

ONE I.S. was built to fulfill the need for a quality international school, offering provision to every family who wishes to invest in their child’s education.  Opened in 2010, the school has expanded with its attending children, taking them through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and providing new facilities to support their progression to Key Stage 1 and 2 (KS1 and 2).  Continued expansion is planned, with provision designed to accommodate children to the end of their primary education.  Due to a growing student population and varied demographic, the school began offering a private bus service, this continues to run daily from Dumaguete to Zambongita and is supervised by a member of the ONE I.S. team.

Curriculum

Our school follows the British Curriculum but includes the teaching of Visayan and Tagalog out of respect for our location and with an understanding that children benefit, in a range of ways, from being multilingual.  We chose the British curriculum as the basis for our teachings due to its emphasis on the development of the whole student as well as an understanding of a child’s learning needs.  Further, it also supports the school’s ethos that each child has the right to be viewed as a unique individual with their own distinctive interests, talents and skills.  Pedagogy focuses on practical learning and encourages lesson delivery supporting various styles of knowledge acquisition.  When these factors are considered alongside the continuity and transferability offered by a British education and British qualifications around the world, we felt this offered our students the best opportunities for their future.
