If you are considering the Australian International School (AIS) for your child’s (or your own) education, then it is natural that you will want to know something about the School.  This website should give you a sense of the School’s character and of the range of activities that go on here.

AIS provides an international education for children from Kindergarten (from 2 years old) to graduation (Year 13).  Our students represent over 35 different nationalities.  In Kindergarten and Primary School, we teach the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) Primary Years Programme; in Middle School, we teach the highly regarded University of Cambridge Secondary Programme with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); and in Senior School we teach the IB’s Diploma Programme, which is the most widely recognised and accepted international school accreditation in the world.

Within this solid curriculum framework, AIS offers a personalised education with a focus on academic excellence.  The School is known for the quality and commitment of its teachers and for the excellent results achieved by its students, in both the IGCSE (in Year 11) and the IB’s Diploma Programme (Year 13).

The facilities of the School’s purpose-built three campuses in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City are second-to-none.  They include a state of the art Science Wing, Design & Technology studio and Computer Laboratories, including an iMac Suite; comprehensive Art, Theatre, Music and Dance facilities, including studios and a large auditorium and exhibition areas; two 25m salt-water swimming pools; two “learn to swim” wading pools; two outdoor basketball and tennis courts; two astroturf soccer fields and a huge air-conditioned indoor gymnasium. Our Kindergarten facilities are specially designed with their own enclosed and secure landscaped playgrounds.

But what really sets AIS apart is the high quality of its teaching staff, and the School’s careful preparation of students for university.  AIS students are offered a wide range of academic, artistic and creative subjects; and teachers cater for each student individually – guiding them academically, and in their choice of subjects, university and career.  Senior students’ decisions on these important matters are also informed by regular visits to AIS by recruitment staff from some of the most reputable universities in the world, including Stanford University and University of Melbourne, and by school-organised trips that our students make to these and other international universities during holiday periods.

Camps in Years 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 to regional destinations; local and international sports competitions (including the annual Australian International Schools Association meet); and extra-curricular activities like music, debating, chess, swimming, soccer and basketball are all important in teaching our studentsvaluable social, strategy and leadership skills, while ensuring that they lead balanced and well-rounded lives.

With over 1,000 students from over 30 countries, AIS is a truly international school.  All tuition is in English, and comprehensive language training and support is provided to those students for whom English is a second language.

AIS is also a very community-oriented school, with a busy schedule of events throughout the year for students, parents and friends, and an active charitable programme that sees its students engaging with less-fortunate members of the broader community in a meaningful way.

In short, AIS is a school that seeks to develop the potential that is inherent in each student.  The School does this by identifying and supporting the particular academic, social, emotional and physical needs and abilities of each student.

I invite you to visit the School, to see for yourself its fantastic facilities, terrific teachers and happy students.  My staff and I look forward to meeting you and to answering any questions you may have.
