Electric Power University is a public university with a multi-level and multi-discipline system, operating under the management of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and its main function is to provide high quality manpower at different training levels for the power sector and to satisfy society’s needs. Apart from retraining and advanced training for technical and management staff members of the power sector, the university also develops and promotes scientific research, international cooperation, transfer and deployment of new technology applications.

Besides, EPU is one of the six institutions authorized by the Government and Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) to take responsibility for nuclear power training. The university also provides short-term and part-time training courses for EVN subsidiaries.

Since 2012, EPU has provided training in 21 majors at university level, 17 majors at college level and 06 majors in vocational training courses. From the academic year of 2012-2013, the university has also started Master’s degree training programs in different majors. At present, the total number of students is approximately 20,000.

Over the past years, EPU staff and faculty members have been increasing in terms of both quantity and quality. Until now, the total number of staffs has reached 462, including 8 Associate Professors, 57 people with PhD degree, 230 people with Master’s degree, and more than 130 guest lecturers including 12 people with PhD degree, 98 people with Master’s degree. 100% of lecturers are well qualified and allocated in accordance with their professional qualifications to ensure professional structure and qualifications as prescribed by MoET. At present, for specialized training majors, there are long-term lecturers who have PhD and Master’s degrees as prescribed by MoET.

EPU has consistently received outstanding honors of EVN, MoIT, and MoET. Many individuals and departments were awarded with Labor Medals, Certificates of Merit and other honors from the Government, Ministries, and EVN, etc. Also, the EPU’s Party Committee has successively been renowned for its strength for many years. The Trade Union and Youth Union of the university are well recognized and awarded certificates of merit and many other honors.
