The University of Information Technology (UIT) is a member of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) and is the only university of Vietnam that undertakes information and communication technology research and focused, in-depth training. The University has the youngest management, research and teaching staff of any VNU-HCM member, bringing great enthusiasm along with dynamic and creative advantages.

The university has two campuses: one located in Ho Chi Minh City and one on the outskirts of the city. The first is located in an urban area about 5 km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City and approximately 4km from theInternational Airport, near the “Green Trees” park and the major commercial center of Ho Chi Minh City. The main campus, with an area of 12 hectares, located on a VNU-HCM complex, is about 28 km from the city center.

The University of Information Technology has over 4,000 students who are enrolled full-time in the five faculties which specialize in information and communication technology. Over 200 full-time staff work and over 4,000 part-time students from provinces nationwide study in the university. A large number of researchers, lecturers and managers at UIT have studied at and graduated from world-famous universities. The research and teaching staff are young, dynamic and creative, bringing students invaluable knowledge and skills relating to information and communication technologies and have contributed to the development of the University in particular and the development of information and communication technology for Vietnam in general.

International standards of assessment in technical education and worldwide recognition are targets of the University of Information Technology. UIT endeavors to be a university for training of undergraduate and graduate students and for research; for providing highly qualified experts in the field of information technology (IT) and communications. These experts should also be capable of further self-development and deployment of information technology and communications applications in high technological fields. They should also have creative skills and be able to work well in international environments. The University has implemented transfers of scientific research, IT, communication and related technologies, and has deployed applications of IT and communications in highly technical fields such as management, economy and finance in order to develop the national economy and keep pace with the development of other South East Asian countries.

The University of Information Technology is proud to be the only university in Vietnam to specialize in information technology and communications, also focusing on fostering intellectual development, offering the best learning environment, encouraging and enabling students to develop their potential.  Foreign exchange of training programs, teachers and researchers improve and diversify both training and research towards international standards. Being youthful, dynamic, and creative, the University is making every effort to utilize all of its strengths; and is committed to taking the lead in information technology and communications research and applications within Vietnam, Southeast Asia and the world, while also meeting the education needs of the general public.
