About this school :
The Institut français du Laos is the only cultural institution depending on an embassy in Laos. Created in 1993 within the premises of the French embassy as a linguistic department, it has been inaugurated on January 14th, 1994 in its current location by the then Mayor of Paris, Mr Jacques Chirac, as a Language Cultural Centre.
In January 1995, it acquired a financially autonomous status by becoming a Language and Cultural Cooperation Centre (CCCL).
By creating the Institut français, the government has decided to entrust a unique operator with promoting French culture abroad through artistic exchanges – performing arts, visual arts, architecture, diffusion of books, cinema, French language, knowledge and ideas. Endowed with an increased scope af action and strenghtened resources, the Institut français is thereore the operator of the ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.
