About this school : Destiny International School will open its doors in January 2017 as a coeducational British curriculum school. It will be the first international school in the town of Muar, as well as the region of Northern Johor. Built in phases the school will eventually have capacity for 1,000 students, aged 3-18. Our founding principles are based on a belief in giving each student equal access to quality education irrespective of their learning difficulties or academic strength. Given this belief, Destiny International School seeks to maintain a ‘value for money’ fee structure. High priority will be placed on inclusive education, including provision for children with learning differences (currently underserved by the local market). In line with Destiny International School’s CSR policy, we will also seek to provide merit scholarships to academically deserving students from all walks of life across Malaysia. Alongside the construction and ongoing development of a modern, purpose-built campus, enjoying a superb green-field location, the school will focus particularly on teacher-quality and student learning. The school’s teacher recruitment policy will focus on the hiring of mainly Malaysian or Asian nationals while expatriate teachers will only be hired for senior management and key specialist positions. Destiny International School has selected to provide the National Curriculum for England leading to Cambridge IGCSE and eventually A-Level examinations; this is a curriculum most familiar to and trusted by Malaysian parents. The school year will be aligned with Malaysian national schools, January to November, to facilitate an easier transfer for Malaysian students; as such examinations will be sat in November. In the second phase of our development programme Destiny International School will also be targetting boarding students from across Asia, in line with the Malaysian Government’s aim of making Malaysia an education hub. The boarding facilities will cater for around 200 students. Boarding students are likely to come from the smaller towns in Northern Johor who are unable to commute daily
