Welcome to DLSAU
The De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) is the seventh member of De La Salle System. It was established in 1946 as the Araneta Institute of Agriculture in Bulacan, then transferred to Malabon the year after. In 1978 it was renamed as the Gregorio Araneta University Foundation. Integration of the university to the DLS System started since 1987 and in 2002 became an official member of the system. The university specializes in Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Sciences.
Founding Philosophy
The cornerstones of Dr. Salvador Araneta’s educational philosophy are contained in the speeches he delivered during the periods of his life as an educator, as President of the Araneta University Foundation, now De La Salle Araneta University.
He gave emphases on the following philosophies:
1. Training the Minds, Hands and Hearts – Dr. Salvador Araneta emphasized that we must fight intellectual indolence among students, eradicate moral turpitude by disciplining their muscles, their hearts, their minds, and their character.
2. Crowing Education with the Love of God and Nation – Dr. Salvador Araneta professed his faith to God, to country, to humanity, to democracy, to the youth of the nation, to education and research, and to the fundamentality of agriculture. Dr. Araneta expressed his faith in our youth that they can take an active role to play nation building. His faith in our youth is just the same faith of Rizal who called them the fairest promise of our fatherland.
3. Education is a Never Ending Process – One will achieve a more meaningful life by enriching his soul with a constant commune with God. By enriching the intellect, Dr. Araneta meant that by reading one can build a progressive life. By understanding people and knowing how to please them, one can enjoy a hearty life.
4. Teaching of Religion is Teaching Love for God and Neighbors – Dr. Araneta professed that prayer is important to attain intense love for Jesus which is the essence of Religion. He stressed that prayer is necessary to be on the road to sanctification which is the immediate end of Christian Education. Christian Education should not be compartmentalized, into education for God, and education for country.
St. John Baptist De La Salle was an innovative educator who systemized and made practical many of the educational methods considered standard proactive todday. Acknowledge as the patron saint of teachers, he permeated sound learning with spiritual development.
De La Salle Araneta University is dedicated to providing an environment that incorporates the charism of our patron. Students are recognized as unique, endowed by God with special gifts. They are challenge to develop intellectually, spiritually, and personally. Preparation for the future incorporates living the present as fully as we can and seeing the hand of God in the events of life. Students are taught the truths of the Gospel and the importance of putting these truths into practice. Enhance through participation in liturgies and daily prayer, the practice of faith is reflected in a special concern for those in need.
