About the UP College of Medicine
The University of the Philippines College of Medicine (U.P. College of Medicine, UPCM) is the medical school of the University of the Philippines Manila, the oldest constituent university of the University of the Philippines System. Its establishment in 1905 antedates the foundation of the system and makes it one of the oldest medical schools in the country. Its teaching hospital, The Philippine General Hospital, is the national university hospital. It is said that the UPCM is the only unit of the University of the Philippines system that continued its operation during World war II, making the Dean of the UPCM the concurrently serving President of the entire UP System of the era.
