Foreword – Mutually Guiding and Acquiring Wisdom and Knowledge while Nurturing Joy and Happiness

My name is Romain Grouazel-Krauss, I was born in Brittany and have been teaching throughout France, the USA and Thailand for the past ten years. I am a Breton man of Gypsy descent and somehow, I guess, I kept the tradition given by my forefathers and kept moving and traveling for the last twenty-two years.

So here I am! This is the first post and I am not sure where to start. Let’s say I had the chance to teach in wonderful schools, first in France as a bilingual homeroom French/Breton teacher for one and two graders, then as a Kindergarten teacher in Berkeley – California, where I discovered a totally different culture and ways and met many amazing educators whom lead me toward where I am today in terms of thinking and philosophy about education. At last, Thailand, where I teach three to nine graders and where it seems I have settled for good. I had also the chance to become a father a year ago and will have a second daughter in less than a month and all that together pushed me to do something and create this website about education, school, parenting and Thailand of course -although, education has no borders, and I hope this will reach borders outside of Thailand.

To do so, I have contacted a few people that I have met during my peregrinations and which I think will contribute to create a new voice and vision over the whole education thing and everything that surrounds it.

I have chosen these people carefully, for their talents, for their hearts and for their psyches. I have also decided to include youngsters with the same qualities as the grown-ups I have chosen as I believe they will bring to us what grown-ups are unable to do or conceive in a short period of time and will do with education what Picasso did with painting – and hopefully it will take us less than a life time to achieve.

All that said brings us to think and rethink about what is really parenting, education, school and being a teacher or a student: relationships between Mentees and Mentors mutually guiding and acquiring wisdom and knowledge while nurturing joy and happiness.
