ESL TA
Essential Functions
Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or
reinforcing learning concepts.
Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information
relative to job functions.
Implements, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the
purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records
Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe
and positive learning environment.
Confers with the ESL and classroom teacher(s) concerning individual needs on a daily basis under the
guidance of the ESL teacher.
Adjusts instruction to objectives and individual needs on a daily basis under the guidance of the ESL
teacher.
Provides individual students with positive and prompt feedback on their progress
Helps develop and use language resources to support and supplement instructional activities.
Keeps abreast of new knowledge, research, and practice in language instruction and applies this
knowledge to improve the instructional program.
Establishes positive rapport with students, parents, and school personnel.
Works with one-on-one and small groups to remediate diagnosed weaknesses.
Requirements
– Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
– TESOL/CELTA certification
– Excellent command of written and spoken English
