The Siam International School is looking for interested professionals to fill the Principal position. Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and have a Masters degree in education (PhD desired). Applicants must have at least 3 years managing an international school.
The Key Function and responsibilities are as follows:
JOB GOAL: To serve as the chief administrator, leader and supervisor of the in implementing policies, curriculum activities, and extra-curriculum activities in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
Academic:
• Establish and maintain academic standards
• Promote and strengthen the school’s reputation locally and internationally
• Serve as a professional consultant to the Board on current educational practices
• Advise the Board on educational needs of the school
• Oversee the ongoing review and development of the school’s educational program
• Develop academic metrics to evaluate the school’s performance against standards; develop corrective action plans to address areas where performances does not meet the standards
Personnel Management:
• Develop staffing plans that support and build the school’s academic programs
• Recruit, hire and terminate faculty and support staff
• Develop and conduct performance appraisals, develop corrective action plans when performance does not meet standards
• Support professional development for all staff
Communication:
• Promote good communication with the staff, students and the school community
• Key spokesperson for the academic philosophy, standards and program of the school
• Promote the school locally, nationally and internationally
• Foster a positive relationship with various stakeholders, the national, international business and educational communities
Business Management and Development:
• Implement the current strategic plan and work with the Board to regularly assess and update the plan to meet the school’s future needs
• Identify and continually seek growth opportunities for enrollment
• Develop and maintain an on-going facility development plan that supports and enhances the academic program
• Ensure a workable and efficient system is in place to operate all school affairs
• Assure proper supervision of all student activities
• Provide a safe and secure environment for all students and staff
School Policy:
• Identify areas where new policies are required or existing policies need revision, and develop policy for Board’s approval
WASC Accreditation:
• Coordinate with the school accreditation coordinator all concerns about WASC accreditation
• Be knowledgeable of the WASC accreditation process
Other:
• Other duties as assigned by the Board Ensure that school policies are effectively monitored and enforced
Position Requirements
• Proven track record of success as a previous administrator
• Prior experience working in a British/American curriculum-based school or schools with similar curriculum
• Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Education or equivalent experience
• Administrative certification
• Strong communication skills
• School Finance and budget experience
• Knowledge or experience with AP/ Diploma Program or IB
• Ability to recruit and retain quality administrators and faculty
• Experience with school facilities improvement and planning
