One of the challenges for new teachers everywhere is obtaining that first position. Some of you may also be considering overseas opportunities as well, but as new teachers seeking jobs outside of your home countries, it is often necessary to take your first position at a new or small, less-established institution.
If you are looking for a year of teaching experience, and also an overseas adventure that could open up a world of possibilities, then this may be an opportunity worth considering.
This internship position offers an opportunity for an energetic and committed new teacher to experience working within the professional learning community of a highly regarded and influential international school. NIST has a diverse team of excellent teachers and students who enjoy learning and are committed to achievement. We are looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn, and can readily connect with students, collaborate with colleagues and add to our community.
The exact requirements of the internship will depend upon the applicant’s skills and attributes, and the position will include a balance of teaching—including providing learning support for smaller groups of students with specific learning differences and working directly with a variety of classroom teachers—while actively supporting extracurricular activities. Though the position is not for a specific discipline, we may have a slight preference for candidates with a background in math, science, English or learning support.
The package of salary and benefits is designed to ensure that the intern can live comfortably in the city of Bangkok. Our goal is to attract qualified teachers with very high potential but little experience. Our commitment is to help these individuals develop enough experience to compete for a regular full-time position at NIST or another leading international school elsewhere. Internships are based on a one-year contract, though depending on the needs of the school, this may be reviewed at the completion of the contract. Further details can be provided during the application process.
