At Kids’ Gallery, our aim is to create awareness of and arouse interest in the arts among children of all ages, and to develop a solid foundation of creativity and arts appreciation, through a wide range of arts enrichment programmes.
The value of the arts to a child’s education
We believe the arts:
Provide children with many of their earliest learning experiences and shape the way they see the world, both as children and adults
Provide the ability to understand human experiences, be able to solve problems, and to communicate well
Develop creative and imaginative thinking
Provide the opportunity for self-expression and self-understanding
Develop aesthetic awareness and appreciation
Create understanding of the individuality of others
Aid adults in understanding and helping children
Improve physical coordination and technical skills
Generate fun and joy!
Background
In 2013 Kids’ Gallery celebrated 17 years as Hong Kong’s leading childrens’ arts centre.
Kids’ Gallery was founded in Hong Kong in 1996 as a unique concept in arts enrichment education for children. Today, Kids’ Gallery operates centres in Hong Kong, China, India, and Singapore.
Originally concentrating on Visual Arts, including Arts & Crafts, Sketching, and Oil Painting, further programmes in the Performing Arts were added enabling children to explore the delights of Speech & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Singing, amongst others. Communication Arts courses were included to introduce arts-based learning programmes to enhance English skills. Our Early Learners programme introduces toddlers to the delights of arts exploration through music movement, and by introducing children as young as three years to the delights of Picasso and Cubism or the fun of Andy Warhol, or providing opportunities for children to perform in professional theatres, or initiating exploration of arts subjects more often introduced at a later stage in traditional schools, and providing a very broad range of materials and course curricula, Kids’ Gallery ensures that children are given full credit for their natural abilities and the opportunity to develop these abilities to their full potential.
