Established in 1996, Saigon Kids was one of the very first International Childcare Centres to open its doors for expatriate children in Ho Chi Minh City. From our early days, it was always our aim to create a small, friendly, homely environment. After more than 18 years of establishment, our original aim remains unchanged. With this in mind we have attempted to remove some of the hallmarks of an institution, replacing them with softer elements, we use softer lighting, home-like furniture and furnishings, baskets, flowers and plants which offer a much more “homely” appearance and feel.
The centre is open Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. We offer full-day, half-day and part-time care for children 18 months – 6 years old.
Children who attend our centre are from a variety of countries, thus Saigon Kids learn about diversity, similarities and differences in a very natural way, playing alongside and with friends. English and ‘play’ are the common languages used at the centre.
We aim to limit the number of children of the same nationality and gender within each class. We also place important emphasis on friendships and consider this when transitioning children to the next class.
As Saigon Kids Early Learning Centre aims to provide quality care and education for young children, we employ quality teachers. Native English speaking teachers, one in each class, are all qualified in Early Childhood and/or Early Primary Teaching.
Vietnamese teachers who work alongside the native English speaking teachers have Degrees and/or Certificates in Early Childhood or English Language Teaching and experience in working with young children.
Teachers are chosen for their knowledge, skills, creativity, patience and flexibility as this is especially important for caring for and educating young children.
“Working as co-teachers, the role of the teacher is first and foremost to be that of a learner alongside the children.”
