Collaborate with members of the school staff to continue to develop our ELD program to provide 1) significant integration of ELD instruction in the regular classroom, and 2) systematic, relevant assessment of student skills and progress.
Provide training for ELD and regular classroom staff on ELD instruction and integration in the regular classroom via Sheltered English or SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English)
Prepare and deliver age and cultural-appropriate ELD lessons that actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences
Develop differentiated ELD curriculum to meet the needs of a wide range of students
Support all school improvement initiatives, and be willing to contribute as appropriate to the school’s ongoing process of self-evaluation and improvement
Serve on one or more committees in order to improve curriculum and plan the direction of the school
Qualifications
Native English speaker
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred
Teaching certification from a recognized institution, state or country
Knowledgeable in standards-based curriculum, especially in EAL instruction
Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, students, parents, and the community
Experience
At least 2 years’ experience working in a structured ELD program providing systematic assessment
Experience training teachers in ELD instruction and integration in the regular classroom via Sheltered English or SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English)
Experience working in a diverse international community; strong cross-cultural skills
Experience with Understanding by Design is a plus
