About this school: The Kidz Village curriculum follows the standards for learning, development and care as proscribed in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) of The British Curriculum. Additionally current and internationally recognized research on how children develop and learn as endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) forms a valid and reliable assessment instrument that allows teachers to assess child progress and plan responsively.
At Kidz Village teaching ethos and practice is grounded in knowledge and understanding of individual learning styles as based on Howard Gardeners’ Theory of Multiple Intelligences. An understanding that each person has a unique combination or profile of the different intelligences and recognition of each child’s differing strengths and weaknesses allows our teachers to plan and facilitate activities which will meet the varying learning styles of their students.
The driving vehicle for our teaching practice at Kidz Village is The Project Approach as developed by Katz and Chard. The Project Approach refers to a set of teaching strategies that enable teachers to guide students through in–depth studies of real world topics. Projects have a complex but flexible framework within which teaching and learning are seen as interactive processes. Through implementing the project approach students feel highly motivated and actively involved in their own learning. Students are encouraged to question, investigate, work independently and collaborate which leads them to produce high quality work and develop critical thinking skills.
